Priyanka Slams Yogi over speeding ‘crime meter’ in UP

Uttar Pradesh is the new crime hub of the country.Crime incidents have been on a rise in the state since the BJP government came into power. The crimes against women, murders and kidnapping have taken a huge toll in UP.

Slamming the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath over the increasing crimes in the state, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Tuesday said that the speed of crime is twice the speed of governance."

The Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister's government talks of speed and the crime meter running at twice the speed," read her tweet (roughly translated from Hindi).Along with the tweet she shared a graphic that depicted the incidences of crime on August 23 and August 24 titled "Crime meter in UP"."This is the crime meter of only two days in UP. The UP government repeatedly covers the incidents of crime, but crime is visible on the streets of the state," the tweet further said.

The Congress leader had on Friday accused the BJP-led Uttar Pradesh government of threatening people instead of solving their problems. Priyanka Gandhi has been raising the issues of rising crime in UP.Priyanka Gandhi also posted cuttings from a Hindi daily with headlines about the fertiliser scam. The headline stated that two trucks loaded with urea went missing, one found unloading in Chandausi.

Earlier Priyanka Gandhi had also written a few letters to the Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath demanding check and action in various crime incidents  in the state.

The National Crime Records Bureau reported a rise in crime against women, children and Dalits in Uttar Pradesh  earlier this year. Priyanka Gandhi had raised the issue strongly reacting to the data.

The Chief Minister had claimed that he would show zero tolerance for criminals in the state but on ground criminals have gone unbridled in the state with a boom in the crime graph in Yogi's regime .Priyanka Gandhi has also raised the issue of murders of  journalists in the state. In a separate tweet Priyanka has slammed the UP government for the murders of journalists in last few months. Priyanka has stated dates, places when the journalists were killed by miscreants in different  parts of UP. The most recent being a murder of a TV journalist Ratan Singh in UP's Ballia.
