2022 UP polls: Priyanka Gandhi promises e-scooter, smartphones for girls
Priyanka Gandhi announced on Thursday that all class 12 pass girls will be given a smartphone each while all graduate girls will get an electronic scooty if her party forms a government in the state
After promising 40 per cent tickets to women in the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections next year, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi announced on Thursday that all class 12 pass girls will be given a smartphone each while all graduate girls will get an electronic scooty if her party forms a government in the state. Priyanka Gandhi took to her twitter handle to announce her decision.
“Yesterday I met some girl students. They said that they need smartphones for their studies and their security. I am happy that today the UP Congress has decided, with the consent of the manifesto committee, that it will provide smartphones to inter pass girls and electronic scooties to graduate girls on coming to power,” Priyanka Gandhi said in a tweet in Hindi.
Later, Rahul Gandhi tweeted, "The daughter of the country says - with our hard work, with the strength of education, with proper reservation I can go on and on."
This is the second political promise that Priyanka has made this week. On Tuesday, she announced that the Congress will give 40 per cent of the party tickets to women candidates in the 2022 Uttar Pradesh assembly polls.
In a press conference, she said: "Any woman who wants to contest can give an application till November 15."
The move, she claimed, is aimed at empowering every woman who wants justice, change and unity of her state and also against the efforts to divide them into caste and religion that is stopping them from emerging as a force.
