A video showing Amruta Fadnavis, wife of Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, sitting on the edge of India’s first domestic coastal cruise Angria to take a selfie is doing the rounds on social media.

Amruta Fadnavis was attending the event with her husband Devendra Fadnavis and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari. The event was organised to inaugurate India’s first luxury cruise line, Angria.

CM Fadnavis and Gadkari flagged off the cruise ship but media spotlight soon turned towards Ms Fadnavis, who went an extra mile to take a risky selfie

India’s first domestic cruise ship, especially for coastal cruising, will go on its maiden voyage between Mumbai and Goa on October 24, 2018. The cruise ship will reach Goa by 9 am the next day.

The ship is named after Kanhoji Angre, an Admiral in Maratha empire’s Navy, who protected India’s Arabian sea coast from enemy invasions. The price of one ticket ranges between ₹7,500 to ₹11,000.

Amruta Fadnavis later apologised for the reckless act, according to the news agency PTI. "The spot where I clicked selfie was not dangerous because there were two more steps below," she told a Marathi news channel. "If anyone thinks I have made some mistake, then I apologise for it," she said. "I want to tell the youth that they should not take excessive risk to take a selfie," she added.
