Thirteen days after the Congress President Rahul Gandhi announced her induction in the party as general secretary Uttar Pradesh-East, Priyanka Gandhi took charge at Congress headquarters in Delhi on Wednesday.
In a photograph circulated by the communication department of the Congress party, Priyanka can be seen interacting with two Congress workers.
She has been allotted a room next to his brother and Congress president's room at the Congress headquarters located at 24 Akbar road, New Delhi.
Congress sources told NH that Priyanka spent about 40 minutes in her room and interacted with over a dozen Congress workers from Uttar Pradesh. She took stock of the political situation in UP and preparedness of the Congress party for the upcoming polls.
Sources claimed that Priyanka will begin her UP tour from February 11. She is likely to reach Lucknow on that day, and will hold a road show.
She is also expected to address a meeting of UPCC office-bearers in Lucknow on February 11.
A day before taking charge at the Congress headquarters, Priyanka had hours long meeting with party president Rahul Gandhi and Jyotiraditya Scindia to chalk out strategy for the coming election. Along with Priyanka, Jyotiraditya Scindia has also been appointed general secretary of UP West.
Earlier on Wednesday Priyanka Gandhi accompanied her husband businessman Robert Vadra to Enforcement Directorate. Robert Vadra was asked by a Delhi court to join investigation in a money laundering case.
Priyanka Gandhi said she wanted to send out a "clear message" with her appearance, "I stand by my husband.”
This is the first time Robert Vadra appeared before any investigative agency.
On Tuesday night Priyanka Gandhi visited slum dwellers at New Delhi’s Aurangzeb Road while on way to meet her brother Rahul Gandhi at his residence which is located next to the Aurangzeb Road cluster.
Analysts believe that by visiting the slum dwellers, Priyanka has sent out a clear message that her focus is on the common man.
