Nitish gets backing from BJP, to be re-sworn in as Bihar CM

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) offered unconditional support to Janata Dal (United) on Wednesday night after Nitish Kumar stepped down as chief minister earlier in the evening.

According to latest developments, the BJP faxed its letter of support to JD(U) to Raj Bhawan and a BJP-JD(U) government is likely to take oath of office on Thursday at 5 PM.

As per reports, legislators from both the parties, which parted ways in June 2013, were meeting at Nitish Kumar’s residence late at night. Both JD(U) and the BJP were interested in staking a claim to government formation tonight itself but couldn’t do so as Governor KN Tripathi got diagnosed with a nose infection.

BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi, the former deputy CM, reportedly confirmed that the BJP will be part of the new government. He, however, refused to say if he will be taking oath as deputy CM tomorrow.
