Kunwar Danish Ali, Lok Sabha MP from Amroha, Uttar Pradesh, on Friday said he was "deeply hurt" by the derogatory and anti-Muslim remarks against him by BJP member Ramesh Bidhuri in the House the previous day, and was considering resigning from Parliament in protest.

Addressing media persons in New Delhi on Friday, an angry and emotional Danish Ali said that if the Lok Sabha Speaker doesn’t take action against Bidhuri, he will resign from the house.

He added that despite being an elected representative of the people, he was feeling helpless and so agonised that he could “burst a vein”.

“I am sure the Speaker will take appropriate action. If not, I may consider resigning from the house with a heavy heart,” Ali said, visibly trying to fight back tears.

On Thursday, during a discussion on the Chandrayaan-3 mission in the Lok Sabha, South Delhi BJP MP Bidhuri hurled ugly, communal abuse at Danish Ali, calling him ‘bhadwa’, ‘katwa’, and ‘ugrawadi’, and threatened to ‘see’ him (Ali) outside Parliament.

“What is all this happening? Did our forefathers fight for the freedom of this country to see this day? Could they imagine that in return of their sacrifices, they would get to hear all this?” Ali asked.

Earlier, Ali wrote to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla to take action against Bidhuri under rules 222, 226 and 227 of procedure and conduct of business in the Lok Sabha. He said he wanted to personally meet the speaker, but he was not available, so the letter was submitted to his office.

“They have not only insulted me and the people I represent, they have insulted the whole country, they have hurt the soul of this country,” Ali's letter said.

“Now, one would like to wait and watch whether Bidhuri ji’s party takes any action against him or whether he is promoted to the Union cabinet. This has become a trend among BJP leaders. Till now, they were threatening and abusing in public, now they are doing it even inside Parliament,” he added.

Interestingly, Union minister and Chandni Chowk MP Harshvardhan and former Union law minister Ravi Shankar Prasad--both senior BJP leaders--are seen smiling in the Sansad TV video clip sitting behind Bidhuri, as the latter hurls invectives at Ali.
