Stunned football fans all over the world were plunged into grief on Wednesday by the death of Diego Maradona, a sublimely gifted sporting hero perceived as "the most human of Gods." The news fell like a hammer blow on a world beaten down by months of coronavirus pandemic.

On Thursday, thousands of fans across the world, including India, took to microblogging platform Twitter to pay their tributes to the football superhero who was instrumental in Argentina winning the World Cup in 1986.
