Kejriwal admits, Party made mistakes

Grappling with a crushing defeat in the civic polls, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal today admitted that his Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) made "mistakes" and that there was a need to "introspect" and "course correct". Kejriwal said that based on his interactions with "volunteers and voters", it was obvious that the party made mistakes and there was a need to go back to the "drawing board". Till now the AAP leader had been blaming Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) for the party's rout in polls.

Jaitley says, no surprises in GST rate fixation

Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Friday promised not to spring any surprises in fixing tax rates under the new GST regime, saying they will not be "significantly different" from current levels. The GST Council, headed by Jaitley and comprising representatives of all the states, is scheduled to meet in Srinagar on May 18-19 to finalise tax rates after unifying at least 10 indirect taxes into the Goods and Services Tax (GST).


Restrictions imposed in parts of Kashmir

In the wake of death of a civilian in security forces firing after militants attacked an army installation, authorities imposed restrictions on assembly of people in parts of north Kashmir's Kupwara district to maintain law and order. The curbs under Section 144 CrPc which prohibits assembly of five or more people have been imposed in Kupwara town, Kralpora, Trehgam and Lalpora Sogam.

Money laundering case against 12 TMC leaders

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Friday registered a money laundering case in the Narada sting operation case allegedly involving Trinamool Congress leaders. The latest development comes a week after the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) lodged an FIR against 12 TMC leaders, including Rajya Sabha MP Mukul Roy, Lok Sabha MPs Sultan Ahmed and Saugata Roy among others.


UK police foil active terror plot

The UK police disrupted an terrorist plot with raids in London and south eastern England. Police said six suspects were arrested on terrorism-related charges. Suspects were arrested on suspicion of the commission, preparation and instigation of terrorist acts.
