Uttar Pradesh’s Opposition parties have come together in a big way to help the general public during the current corona crisis.

Significantly enough, Rahul Gandhi who was avoiding visit to Amethi after being defeated in Lok Sabha polls, has sent his close aide along with truckloads of relief materials to be distributed among the needy persons.

Similarly, Priyanka Gandhi, who is in-charge of UP, has written to the district and city units of the Congress party, to arrange relief for people at the grassroot level.

She also directed state president Ajay Kumar Laloo to monitor the relief work being carried out in the state and point out to authorities the shortcomings.

Priyanka Gandhi also wrote to state government to make arrangements for the safe return of migrant labourers to their respective villages.

Similarly, former chief minister and national president of Samajwadi Party, Akhilesh Yadav, also held high-level meetings with senior office-bearers to make arrangements for relief work in the state.

Akhilesh Yadav directed his leaders on a close-knit WhatsApp group to reach out to people to ensure proper relief to people. Yadav asked his party MPs, MLAs and MLCs to step up relief work in a planned manner in order to deal with the ongoing corona crisis.

At the same time, when migrant labourers at Bareilly were subjected to inhuman treatment by the local authorities through spray of disinfectant meant for using on buses, leaders like Priyanka Gandhi, Akhilesh Yadav and Mayawati strongly condemned the incident and demanded action against the official culprits.

A senior Opposition leader opined that if Chief Minister Yogi Adiyanath had called a meeting with Opposition leaders for waging a joint war against corona, UP would have fared much better.
