NSUI files complaints against Amit Shah at 100 police stations
NSUI has filed complaints against the BJP chief in 100 police stations in 28 districts across India, alleging that Amit Shah had been implicated in murder, corruption and fake encounter cases
The Congress party-affiliated National Students Union of India (NSUI) on Tuesday, July 3 filed complaints against Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Amit Shah in 100 police stations in 28 districts across the country.
In its complaint to the Station House Officer (SHO) of Parliament Street Police Station in New Delhi, the NSUI demanded that police file an FIR against Amit Shah “to restore common man’s faith in the system.”
“Accused Amit Shah is a threat to public peace and order. Accused Shah continues to intimidate young women, activists, judges and minorities in the country. A state of fear and intimidation looms over the people of this country. We seek your help and request you to register a FIR in the subject matter,” read the complaint by NSUI.
“We are writing to inform you that the lack of strong criminal action against Amit Shah, Son of Anil Chandra Shah is emboldening criminals across the country. Amit Shah is a criminal who has misused every Governmental office assumed by him in his political career,” read the complaint.
The youth organisation has taken strong exception to Shah being portrayed as a ‘modern-day Chanakya” in political discourse, saying that it wouldn’t let this happen. “Amit Shah is a criminal implicated in murder, extortion, false encounters, intimidation of witness, subversion of judicial process, using state machinery to snoop on a female citizen and corruption cases,” the NSUI alleged in a statement.
“The NSUI will continue raising the criminality of the BJP President before the Indian public,” said Ruchi Gupta, Congress General Secretary in-charge of NSUI.
Detailing its allegations against Shah, the NSUI complaint at Parliament Street PS further claimed that:
- Prosecution witnesses in the Sohrabuddin Sheikh alleged fake encounter case—from which Amit Shah was discharged as an accused by a Special CBI judge appointed after the death of Judge BH Loya, who was hearing the matter at the time of his death—are being pressurised and intimidated by the police/BJP politicians to resile from their earlier statements given to the investigating agency and turn hostile, alleged NSUI. This amounts to undermining the rule of law and obstructing the course of justice, said NSUI.
- NSUI also alleged that on a series of occasions, Amit Shah directed illegal surveillance in violation of law against a woman architect. Needless to state that snooping/surveillance in violation of the India Telegraph Act is a serious offence, said NSUI.
- Amit Shah was the Director of the Ahmedabad District Co-operative Bank on November 8, 2016 which is the date on which the demonetisation decision was announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The ADCB secured the maximum deposits among DCBs across the country amounting to a total of ₹745.59 crores from November 9-13, 2016, said NSUI.
An NSUI spokesperson said that it was up to the police now to decide on the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code applicable to Shah based on the complaint.
