Congress invites proposals for Rajiv Gandhi Sadbhavana Award

All India Congress Committee is inviting proposals for the Rajiv Gandhi National Sadbhavana Award (RGNSA). The award is given for outstanding contribution to promote peace, communal harmony and fight against terrorism and violence. The last date for receiving the proposals for the award is July 7, 2018.
The award, given on former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi's birthday on August 20, carries a citation and ₹10 lakh cash to be given either to persons or institutions.
"The 24th award for 2016 and 2017 would be in recognition of outstanding contribution to the cause of National Sadbhavana (harmony) either by distinguished individuals or associations in the years and two years immediately preceding it," said Motilal Vora, Member-Secretary, RGNSA Advisory Committee.
The prescribed proforma may be obtained from ‘AICC Trust Office’ at 24, Akbar Road, New Delhi-110011’, said the Chairman of the Advisory Committee, Dr Karan Singh, Ex-MP.
Rajiv Gandhi in his brief life, has left an indelible imprint on the country. His vision of a vibrant future, youthful dynamism and his commitment to promotion of goodwill amongst all, regardless of caste, creed, colour, language and religion endeared him not only to his countrymen but to the entire world. The then President of Indian National Congress instituted the “Rajiv Gandhi National Sadbhavana Award” in the Golden Jubile Year of “Quit India Movement”.
Mother Teressa, Ustad Bismillah Khan, Mohd Yunus, Hiteshwar Sakia and Subhadra Joshi (Jointly), Lata Mangeshkar, Sunil Dutt, JN Kaul, Dilip Kumar, Kapila Vatsyayan, Teesta Setalvad and Harsh Mander (Jointly), SN Subba Rao, Swami Agnivesh and Madari Moideen (Jointly), KR Narayanan, Nirmala Deshpande, Hem Dutta, N Radhakrishnan, Gautam Bhai, Wahiduddin Khan, SPIC MACAY, DR Mehta, Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, Muzaffar Ali and Shubha Mudgal are among some of the recipients.
