‘Go back Modi’: Thousands boycott #HowdyModi event in Houston
It was not just the Pakistanis or Indians or Kashmiris or Muslims alone, there were also several Americans too who assembled outside the NRG stadium to register their protest against the event
While several thousand people gathered inside the NRG football stadium to listen to Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the mega #HowdyModi event in Houston, Texas, in the United States, a few thousand also turned up to protest against the event.
It was not just the Pakistanis or the Indians or the Kashmiris or Muslims alone, there were also White Americans and Black Americans too who assembled outside the NRG stadium to register their protest against the event in which US President Donald Trump too participated.
The protestors held placards denouncing #Fascism, #Nazism, genocide and suppression of minorities.
One of the protestors, Pieter Friedrich, tweeted: “I just came from the #AdiosModi protest against #HowdyModi, where I spoke about how the RSS - the Nazi-inspired paramilitary that produced Modi - is the KKK of India and has inspired white supremacist terrorists like Anders Breivik. Speak out, speak truth, speak in solidarity.”
Of course, the protests were not as hysteric as the support for Modi inside the stadium where the crowds went gaga over the Indian Prime Minister’s presence amid them. The event was organised by the Texas India Forum in close collaboration with the Indian embassy.
Here are a few videos of the protests:
