Do @realDonaldTrump’s tweets betray juvenile behaviour?
US President Donald Trump uploads a video clip showing him pummelling an opponent with CNN superimposed at a WWF event
US President Donald Trump remains unfazed at criticism that he watches Television for too long, five hours a day according to some estimates, and tweets far too many of his thoughts for his own good. The fake media, Trump suggests, is trying to silence him but of course he will not let them succeed.
The US President took his tirade against the media to an altogether different level over the weekend when he tweeted an old video clip of himself on Sunday. The clip shows him at a World Wrestling event knocking down an opponent who has the CNN logo superimposed on his face. Leaving the opponent sprawled on the ground, Trump is seen walking away.
The CNN reacted by issuing a statement. “It is a sad day when the President of the United States encourages violence against reporters…Instead of preparing for his overseas trip, his first meeting with Vladimir Putin, dealing with North Korea and working on his healthcare bill, he is instead involved in juvenile behaviour far below the dignity of his office. We will keep doing our job. He should start doing his.”
Earlier @realDonaldTrump, the twitter handle retained and used by the US President, had tweeted, “I am extremely pleased to see that @CNN has finally been exposed as #FakeNews and garbage journalism. It’s about time.”
He is believed to be referring to a video clip produced by a right-wing activist, which shows a CNN producer calling the US President a ‘clown’ and a crazy man. The producer is also overheard saying that American voters were stupid.
The US President’s tweets have caused concern with some sections wondering why Twitter is not suspending the handle because of the use of intemperate, provocative and inappropriate language and images. Others have voiced concern over the President’s ‘child-like’ use of Twitter.
The CNN itself has been at the forefront of exposing the US President’s seemingly juvenile behaviour, as the following tweets demonstrate. They also explain the US President’s ire.
Addressing a gathering of his supporters in Washington DC, Trump alleged that the ‘ fake media’ had tried in vain to stop his entry to the White House. “ But I am the President and they are not,” he declared to his applauding supporters.
