Veteran lyricist Yogesh Gaur passes away
Veteran lyricist Yogesh Gaur had been unwell for some time and it is learnt that he was living with one of his disciples in a small suburb of Mumbai
Veteran lyricist Yogesh Gaur has passed away. He was ailing for some time and it is learnt that the veteran lyricist was living with his disciple in Nallasopara where he breathed his last.
Yogesh who wrote immemorable songs like Kahin Door Jab Din Dhal jaaye and Zindagi Kaisi Hai Paheli from Anand and Phool Tumhare Maheke Jeevan main. He was awarded the national award for his song Kayi Baar Yu bhi Dekha from Rajnigandha. He lived all alone in suburb of Mumbai.
Film and music historian Pavan Jha who was in touch with him said, “I was in continuous touch with him during the lockdown too. But in the last couple of weeks he had stopped responding to my calls. But he has a disciple who would organise his shows and events. He was taking care of him. His name is Satyendra who took him to his house as he was not well.''
Lyricist Sameer Anjaan got to know about the news after he received a message from music composer Salil Chowdhary's son about Yogesh’s demise. Sameer said, “ the death of legendary lyricist and poet Yogeshji is the biggest loss to the music world. He has written some memorable songs. I pray for him.''
Yogesh wrote songs for about 55 films including Rajnigandha, Anand, Shaukeen, Mili and Baaton Baaton Mein. Yogesh had begun writing scripts for serials and songs at the fag end of his career.
