Varanasi: People ask ‘Gujarati’ Narendra Modi to leave the city
According to a report in a popular Hindi daily, posters saying Gujarati Narendra Modi, Varanasi chhoro (Gujarati Narendra Modi, leave Varanasi) are being pasted all across the city of Varanasi
The constituency of PM Narendra Modi, Varanasi is once again in the news. This time it’s the ire of the people of Varanasi for their MP which is being discussed. According to a report in Dainik Jagran, posters are being pasted across the city of Varanasi, which say ‘Gujarati Narendra Modi, Varanasi choro’ (Gujarati Narendra Modi, leave Varanasi). These posters are being put up by the UP Bihar Ekta Manch. An ultimatum of one week has been issued by this group to the people of Gujarat and Maharashrta living in Varanasi to leave the city.
This development comes in the wake of the attacks on Hindi-speaking migrants in Gujarat after the alleged rape of a 14-month-old girl. This violence forced several migrant workers from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar to leave Gujarat.
President of North Indian Development Council Mahesh Singh Kushwaha has claimed that more than 20,000 people of Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Bihar have left Gujarat in a week.
Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Bihar CM Nitish Kumar expressed their concern over the situation by talking to Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani on Monday.
