The Uttar Pradesh government has been on the backfoot ever since the Unnao rape case came to light and the father of the complainant died in police custody. Now the complainant has alleged that the Unnao District Administration has kept her locked up in a hotel ever since the last rites of her father were conducted, amidst extremely tight security. She says she is not even being given water to drink. The victim has once again pleaded for justice from Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

In contrast, BJP’s Bangarmau MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar, accused of gang rape by the victim, is completely free. Till now, no case has been registered against him. However on Tuesday, ADG (Law and Order) Praveen Kumar said that if the need arises, the MLA will be questioned. On Tuesday evening, CM Yogi directed the Special Investigation Team constituted to investigate the matter, to submit its report by Wednesday evening.

The news is that the Unnao District Administration is going to escort the woman to her village. The administration claims that since the victim is under stress, extra care is being taken.

Meanwhile, Seema Sengar, wife of Kuldeep Singh Sengar, has met DGP OP Singh in Lucknow to appeal for “justice” for her husband. Seema Sengar is also the Unnao District Panchayat President.

The rape victim’s uncle, her deceased father’s brother, has said that her father had been asking for justice from the police for a long time, but the district administration and the police allegedly told him that they are under pressure and could not help him.

Despite the BJP government in Uttar Pradesh coming under tremendous pressure due to this case, surprisingly no action has been taken against BJP MLA Sengar so far. On the other hand, the police is seeking the remand of the five accused arrested in this case, from the court.

The Congress has said this case shows that the law and order system in Uttar Pradesh has been completely eroded. Congress alleged that after the rape victim complained of gang rape, MLA Sengar’s brother badly beat up the victim's father, who later died in police custody.
