Unnao BJP MP Sakshi Maharaj claims he mistakenly inaugurated nightclub
Unnao BJP MP Sakshi Maharaj has landed in controversy after inaugurating a night club in Lucknow on Sunday. He has now complained to police saying he was misled into thinking it was a restaurant
BJP MP Sakshi Maharaj has landed himself into yet another controversy after inaugurating a night club in Aliganj, Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh on Sunday, April 15. People have been bitterly criticising Sakshi Maharaj on social media, after pictures of the inauguration ceremony went viral.
Sakshi Maharaj has defended himself by claiming that he did not know that the restaurant he inaugurated was a 'night club'. He has made a complaint to police, saying “Since I was in a hurry as I had to catch a flight to Delhi, so within two-three minutes I cut the ribbon and went to the airport. Later, I came to know through media that it was not a restaurant but a nightclub. Someone says it is a hookah bar; someone says it is a bar”. The BJP MP demanded that the restaurant be examined and if something is found wrong, then stringent action should be taken against the culprits, and the ‘club’ should be closed.
Twitter users, however, are not really buying Sakshi Maharaj’s defence, and have been unsparing in their criticism, due to his past comments blaming ‘vulgar behaviour’ for rapes. Sakshi Maharaj had said that girls and boys' vulgar behaviour at public places leads to rape and they should be put behind bars. People were quick to call out the hypocrisy, as also the terrible timing.
