Vote for the BJP candidate or be prepared to be punished, warned an insurgent group in Manipur. It seems BJP also nominated the candidate another insurgent group recommended.
On Sunday evening @t_d_h_nair tweeted:
“An armed insurgent outfit in Manipur wrote to BJP president Amit Shah informing him that the outfit would be greatful if H S Benjamin Mate is fielded as BJP candidate from outer Manipur. Our "nation first party" obliged the request gleefully.”
He went on to add: “ Kuki National Army, another insurgent group from NE, threatened the village heads that if 90% votes are not cast for the BJP candidate from outer Manipur, village heads will be punished! This is the real face of the leaders of BJP/RSS which says "nation first", "we'll eliminate terrorism" and "Akhand Bhart" etc to befool the public to be in power.
The claim was supported by mainstream news outlets as well. A TV website put out this report:
Guwahati: Ahead of Lok Sabha elections, village heads of Manipur are being threatened by the Kuki National Army to ensure that 90% votes are cast for the BJP, otherwise they will be summoned and held responsible, then punished.
Thangboi Haokip, the Commander of the KNA has issued the diktat at a gathering in D Muonnaphai village, Moreh where the village chiefs were present. Referring to BJP candidate for outer Manipur, HS Benjamin Mate, he warned that if required violence will be resorted to.
The KNA commander said that despite a lack of active female police or force within the group, a special force comprising 200 women has already been assigned for the polling day (April 11). “Whether men or women, nobody will be spared if they the diktat is not followed,” he said.
Taba Ajum, another Twitter user, tweeted:
“In Arunachal in districts like Tirap, Changlang n Longding the Naga group NSCN IM has been alleged of working for BJP. Opposition candidates even allleged BJP CM Pema Khandu of using Naga militants.”
While BJP leaders continue to accuse the opposition of being aligned with terrorists, pics and videos of vigilante groups brandishing swords in Gurugram (Gurgaon) and preventing sale of ‘meat’ and ‘meat products’ during Navaratri , ostensibly members of the Hindu Sena, once again expose the hypocrisy of the BJP.
