A 25 year old trans woman was shot at by her father in Dadri, Greater Noida for joining a transgender community and going to weddings with other members in the community to sing and dance. The victim was also a resident of the same colony and the accused works as a motor mechanic.
Neighbours reportedly heard a gunshot in the early hours of the morning. They later saw the victims being rushed to the hospital in an ambulance by family members. Later, the neighbours alerted the police of the incident.
When the police reached the spot at around 11am along with a forensic expert, it was apparent that the victims family had tried to cover up the crime and hid the details of the incident from the police. However, a bloody sheet was recovered and blood stains were also found on the victims bed. The police surmise that the victim was shot at when she was sleeping and the bullet missed the target and injured her hand according to a report in the Times of India.
Upon further investigations it was revealed that the victims was shot at by her father because she had recently joined a transgender community.
The police has however stated that they are waiting for a written complaint to be launched to start a probe into the incident.
The accused has been absconding since the incident and the police are yet to find him or the weapon he used in the crime.
There was an altercation a day before the incident, about the victim’s joining a transgender community and singing and dancing at wedding functions.
