Top 10 responses to VHP man’s communal tweet cancelling Ola cab ride
“Cancelled an Ola cab because driver’s name was Achhe Din and it’s been four years now and he’s still not here” and other top responses to VHP guy’s communal tweet on getting a Muslim Ola taxi driver
It all started with this tweet by one Abishek Mishra on Friday, April 20, saying he cancelled an Ola cab booking because the driver was Muslim and he don't want to give his money to “Jihadi People”. Mishra’s Twitter profile suggested he is a member of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad. He is also followed by Union ministers, including Nirmala Sitharaman and Rajyavardhan Rathore.
The Ola Cabs company itself gave a superb response to Mishra’s communal tweet, saying “Ola, like our country, is a secular platform, and we don't discriminate our driver partners or customers basis their caste, religion, gender or creed. We urge all our customers and driver partners to treat each other with respect at all times. ”
While Ola got much praise on Twitter, it also gained news users, with many impressed netizens downloading its app. Mishra was roundly slammed on Twitter, but also received support from some handles.
Some netizens put out some hilarious takedowns of Mishra’s communal views. We reproduce 10 of them here:
