Sonu Sood sells his property to fund his philanthropy, says he’s uncomfortable discussing it

Is this guy for real? All along people thought Sonu Sood’s vast and rapidly-growing charity work was being supported by his entrepreneurial friends.

It now turns out that Sonu’s charitable work is supported by no one else. A recent  report about the actor-activist-philanthropist mortgaging his properties to raise funds  to the tune of Rs 10 crores had me agog.

When I asked Sonu about it, he replied,  “I am not very comfortable talking about it.”

But the fact is, Sonu is paying from his own pocket for all charitable work that he is  doing. A friend  of  the actor informs me, “Who  is funding Sonu’s dreams? No one. He is doing it all by himself. The fact that he wants to help as many as he can is his  passion in life. All the money that he has earned as an actor during the past twenty years are going into funding his dream. Sonu isn’t getting any help from any agency  organization or industrial house in this astonishing endeavour.”

This  kind of  single-minded devotion to a cause bolstered by one determined  individual is unheard of. And there is no full stop to his charitable  work.

“This  is something I’d like to keep doing forever,” says Sonu. Does he realize that this kind of devotion to a cause is unheard of  in India?

Sonu  gets deeply embarrassed,  “I don’t know how to react to this. I  miss my parents more than ever. I wish they were here to see what their son is doing. I know they are the ones who made it possible.”
