Sonia Gandhi pays tributes to jawans killed in Chhattisgarh Naxal attack
Twenty two personnel of various security forces were killed in the gunfight which took place near Bijapur-Sukma border on Saturday. Many jawans are still missing and search operation has been launched
Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Sunday paid homage to the security personnel killed in an Naxal attack in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur on Saturday. She said that the nation owes an enormous debt of gratitude to the jawans who laid down their lives for the nation.
“The entire country bows before the martyrdom of 22 jawans in the gruesome Naxal attack in Bijapur, Chhattisgarh. I pay homage to these jawans who have given their lives, and heartfelt condolences to their families. The nation owes an enormous debt of gratitude to them,” Sonia Gandhi said in a statement.
“I fervently hope for the return of our missing soldiers, and look forward to the complete recovery of those injured,” she added.
“We are united in our resolve to combat Naxalism. The Chhattisgarh Congress Government shall continue to provide all assistance to our Central Paramilitary Forces in fighting Naxalism with full rigour,” she said.

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel took stock of the situation and apprised Union Home Minister Amit Shah of the ground situation. Shah cut short his visit in Assam and returned to Delhi.
