Saifuddin Soz expresses grief at demise of prominent Kashmiri intellectual Prof. Riyaz Punjabi
‘Prof. Riyaz Punjabi will be remembered in Kashmir long for his qualities of head and heart,’ former Union minister Prof. Saifuddin Soz said in a press statement on Thursday
Former Union minister Prof. Saifuddin Soz on Thursday expressed grief at the demise of prominent Kashmiri Intellectual Prof. Riyaz Punjabi.
“I feel extremely sad about the demise of Prof. Riyaz Punjabi. Prof. Panjabi died this morning at his residence at Dwarka in New Delhi after a prolonged illness,” Soz said in a press statement.
“I had a long association with Professor Punjabi. He had finally settled at Dwarka in Delhi. Professor Punjabi had a long association with Kashmir University, Jawaharlal Nehru University and Delhi University. Prof. Punjabi also edited a magazine titled ‘International Peace Studies’,” he said
“I feel sad that Prof. Punjabi died away from many of his friends and associates in Srinagar and elsewhere in Kashmir. Prof. Punjabi will be remembered in Kashmir long for his qualities of head and heart. I offer my condolences to Mrs. Taranum Riyaz and pray that God may rest his soul in peace and give family the fortitude to bear this great loss,” he added.
