RSS male chauvinist, Congress will pass women’s reservation bill if voted back to power: Rahul
Congress President Rahul Gandhi said the Modi government has spent ₹40 Lakh per district in the name of protecting women but attacks on women have increased in his regime
Sounding poll bugle for the 2019 Lok Sabha election, Congress President Rahul Gandhi said the Congress will work with other opposition parties to fight with the regime and will pass the Women’s Reservation Bill in 2019, if voted back to power.
Speaking at Mahila Congress Sammelan in Delhi, Rahul revealed that the Congress will form "an ideological and programme based alliance" with other opposition parties aimed at unseating the Modi government.
Attacking PM Modi for his silence on Muzaffarpur shelter rape case, Rahul said that the Modi government has spent ₹40 Lakh per district in the name of protecting women but attacks on women have increased in his regime.
Rahul unveiled the logo of the Mahila Congress and promised 50% space for women in the party. The Congress leader said while he was committed to promote women by creating a special space for them, they will have to work hard to earn it.
Mocking the much-touted slogan of the Modi Government, "Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao," Rahul said we need to save daughters from the BJP and RSS.
" PM did not utter a single word on Bihar rape...an MLA of his party was arrested and jailed subsequently but he and his party president, Amit Shah remained silent...What he has done with the women/daughters, no one did in the 3000 years history of the country, " emphasised Rahul.
Calling BJP's parental organisation, the RSS, a male chauvinist organisation, Rahul said what the BJP and the RSS can never do for women what the Congress can as they are essentially anti-women.
"RSS-BJP think that the country should be run by men only...their ideology is that only men can be on the front and women should be at the backseat, but our ideology is that women should lead the nation," said Rahul.

"You'll have to earn it. You will have to compete with men... You will have to learn policy-making and how to fight elections", he said.
Rahul Gandhi made it clear that though he would pick the more capable candidates irrespective of the gender, but given a choice between equally capable man and woman, he would choose woman - be it in internal party structures or while giving election ticket.
