Rajiv Gandhi Foundation gifts motorised vehicles to 75 disabled persons on former PM’s 75th birth anniversary

The Rajiv Gandhi Foundation on Tuesday gifted motorised vehicles to 75 differently abled persons to mark the 75th birth anniversary of former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi.

Foundation chairperson Sonia Gandhi inaugurated the Memories and Archives of Rajiv Gandhi (MARG) in the presence of Foundation trustee and her son Rahul Gandhi at Jawahar Bhawan in New Delhi.

MARG is a journey down the memory lane of Bharat Ratna Rajiv Gandhi’s life. The gallery also houses audio-visual resources of the former prime minister’s contribution to the nation.

Rahul Gandhi inaugurated the Rajiv Sadhbhavana Skill Lab and Rajiv Sadhbhavana Media Lab. He also gifted five laptops to INTERACT scholars.

Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi together handed over the keys of specially designed motorized vehicles to 75 differently abled young people. The distribution event was organised as part of the Sadhbhavna Vahan Pradhan Karyakaram.

The Sadhbhavna Vahan Pradhan Karyakaram is a continuum of one of the Foundation's flagship programmes initiated in 1992. The Foundation has supported over 2,500 differently abled young people across 25 states and five Union Territories till date.

The enhanced mobility has helped the young people access employment and education opportunities, become financially independent and gain dignity and respect in the society.

Foundation CEO and Secretary Vijay Mahajan, donors, past awardees, volunteers and staff members of the Foundation participated in the event.
