Priyanka Chopra gets BMC notice for illegal construction
A Spokesperson for Priyanka’s mother Madhu Chopra said, “We are coordinating with the officials and have already taken the required appropriate measures”
Actress Priyanka Chopra has received a notice from BMC (Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation) on Tuesday for 'unauthorised construction' in the premises of her Oshiwara office in Andheri (west) and another adjoining commercial premise which she has rented.
BMC officials said that they have received five complaints from a municipal corporator and people who visited the Charisma Beauty Spa and Salon. BMC reportedly checked the premises and found that the actress had built a mezzanine floor flouting the rules under the Maharashtra Regional Town Planning Act.
Manager of the spa Manik soni, told BMC, “Some of the significant violations discovered on both the premises include unauthorised full-height partitions with the use of ply-sheet and glass walls to make cabins, illegal mezzanine floor and unauthorised amalgamations.”
“Two separate notices - one to the owner and one to the occupant of both the premises were sent across to tackle the situation. If they fail to reply on this, we will demolish the illegal construction.”said senior BMC officials
A Spokesperson for Madhu Chopra said in a statement "We have received the notice from the BMC. We are coordinating with the officials and have already taken the required appropriate measures,"
Senior BMC officials said “We earlier wrote, asking them to regularise the unauthorised changes after paying the penalty and remove the other illegal changes which cannot be approved. However, the actress didn’t take that seriously. As a result, two separate notices - one to the owner and one to the occupant of both the premises were sent across to tackle the situation. If they fail to reply on this, we will demolish the illegal construction.”
Priyanka Chopra was in India last week and she is currently in New York completing her Quantico assignment.
