Maharashtra, Haryana Assembly Election Results 2019 LIVE: 15 independent MLAs ready to join BJP, says Fadnavis

The counting for Maharashtra and Haryana Assembly elections is underway on, counting of votes began at 8 am. In Haryana, it is a close contest between the Bharatiya Janata Party and Congress. Currently, Bharatiya Janata Party leading on 40 seats, Congress on 31, JJP on 10, INLD on 1 and others on 8 in the 90-member House.

In Maharashtra, BJP-Shiv Sena is leading on 161 seats in the 288-member Assembly. Congress-NCP alliance leads in 99 seats in Maharashtra. Other candidates lead in 30 seats.

Apna Dal (Sonelal) candidate Rajkumar Pal won the Pratapgarh assembly seat by defeating Samajwadi Party candidate Brijesh Verma by 29,714 votes

The opposition Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) on Thursday wrested the Simri Bakhtiyarpur assembly seat from the ruling JD(U) in Bihar, an election official said here.

RJD's Zafar Alam defeated JD(U)candidate Arun Kumar by a comprehensive margin of 15,508 votes, the official said.

Haryana Health Minister Anil Vij won from his stronghold Ambala Cantonment seat defeating his nearest rival Chitra Sarwara, an Independent candidate.

Biju Janata Dal (BJD) candidate Rita Sahu clinched victory in the Bijepur Assembly bypoll in Odisha's Bargarh district by a record margin of 97,990 votes on Thursday.

The ruling Congress emerged victorious in the bypolls to the Phagwara and Jalalabad assembly segments on Monday. Congress candidate Raminder Awla defeated SAD nominee Raj Singh Dibipura by 16,633 votes from Jalalabad, considered an Akali bastion.

In Radhanpur (Patan district), OBC leader and BJP candidate Alpesh Thakor trails behind Congress' Raghu Desai by 6,826 votes.

In Bayad (Arvalli), BJP candidate Dhavalsinh Zala trailing behind Congress' Jashu Patel by over 2,757 votes.

In Amraiwadi seat of Ahmedabad, Congress' Dharmendra Patel leading over BJP's Jagdish Patel by 3,800 votes.

In Kheralu (Mehsana), BJP candidate Ajmalji Thakor leading over Congress' Babuji Thakor by over 20,000 votes.

In Tharad (Banaskantha), BJP's Jivraj Patel ahead of Congress' Gulabsinh Rajput by over 1,400 votes.

In Lunawada (Mahisagar) seats, BJP candidate Jignesh Sevak leading over Congress candidate Gulabsinh Chauhan by over 9,600 votes.

The ruling Congress in Puducherry on Thursday retained the Kamaraj Nagar Assembly seat with its nominee A John Kumar emerging victorious in the by-poll, defeating his nearest AINRC rival S Bhuvaneswarane by a margin of 7,170 votes.

While John Kumar, a confidante of Chief Minister V Narayanasamy, polled 14,782 votes out of the total 24,310 polled in the by-election held on October 21, the AINRC nominee secured 7,612 votes.

Ruling Congress party candidates are leading in both the assembly constituencies in Rajasthan where bypolls were held on Monday.

Congress candidate Rita Chaudhary is leading with a margin of 7,745 votes in Mandawa against BJP's Sushila Sigra.

In Nagaur's Khinwsar constituency, Congress candidate Harendra Mirdha is leading with a margin of 144 votes.

The people of Haryana had rejected the ruling BJP and was ready to "embrace a new dawn of justice", state Congress chief Kumari Selja said on Thursday as trends showed no clear winner.

The BJP was leading in 38 seats and the Congress in 31 in trends available for the 89 of the 90 seats. The Jannayak Janta Party was ahead in 11 seats and could emerge kingmaker.

Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang aka as P S Golay of the Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) is leading over his nearest rival Moses Rai of the Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF) by a margin of 8,727 votes in the by- poll to the Poklok Kamrang Assembly constituency in the state.

Counting of votes to the five Assembly constituencies was underway, which began at 8 a.m. and the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) was leading in four and the CPI-M in one.

In the Vatiyoorkavu Assembly seat in the state capital, young CPI-M candidate and Thiruvananthapuram Mayor V.K. Prasanth was leading by a slender margin of 226 votes against former Congress Legislator K. Mohankumar.
