Three held at Chennai airport for smuggling 4.1kg gold
Three persons were arrested for smuggling 4.1 kg gold valued at Rs 2.16 crore, Commissioner of Customs at Chennai International Airport said on Saturday.
According to Customs officials, 14 persons who flew in from Dubai by two Indigo Airline flights on Friday were intercepted and questioned by officials on suspicion they were smuggling in gold.
"On questioning, they revealed concealment of 38 bundles of gold paste in their rectums. The contraband was recovered and seized under the Customs Act of 1962," a Customs statement said.
Further investigation is under progress.

32 dengue cases in Gurugram, no fatalities reported
This year, at least 32 dengue cases have been confirmed in Gurugram, Haryana, till October 16. The figure was 22 last year. However, no deaths have been recorded so far.
Data shared by the administration revealed that the district recorded 93 cases of dengue in 2018, 66 in 2017, 86 in 2016 and 451 in 2015.
The district has recorded four cases of malaria this year so far.
As many as 15 cases of malaria were reported in 2019, 30 in 2018, 48 in 2017, 38 in 2016 and 67 in 2015.
However, no Chikungunya cases have been recorded since 2018.

BJP leader shot dead in UP By bike-borne assailants, 3 arrested
A BJP leader DK Gupta was shot dead last night in Uttar Pradesh's Firozabad district. Gupta was targeted by three unknown attackers on bikes, police said.
The BJP leader, who was the Mandal vice president, was leaving after closing his shop when he was attacked at a local market.
Soon after the killing, a protest by some family members and supporters broke out outside the hospital - where he was taken - as they demanded arrest of the accused. Some protesters also tried to block a road in Agra.
Three people, including the main accused, have been detained and are being questioned: ADG Agra, Ajay Anand.
Encounter breaks out in South Kashmir's Anantnag
An encounter started between terrorists and security forces at Larnoo area in South Kashmir's Anantnag district on Saturday, officials said.
The firefight between terrorists and security forces took place after security forces cordoned off the area and launched a search operation on the basis of a specific information about presence of terrorists.
As the security forces zeroed in on the spot where terrorists were hiding they came under a heavy volume of fire that triggered the encounter.
"Encounter has started at Larnoo area of Anantnag. Police and security forces are on the job," police said.
