Karnataka’s BJP-led government to enact “love jihad” law too, says deputy CM Ashwath Narayan

After UP enacted a law against it, MP Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has also gone on record to say that the state will enact laws to curb “forced religious conversions”

Deputy Chief Minister Karnataka Dr CN Ashwath Narayan has said that the state government was going to bring a law against "love jihad" in the upcoming legislative session.

"Many states have already brought in the bills. We are also in the process of bringing bills against ''love jihad'' and to impose a ban on cow slaughter," Narayan told ANI.

The development comes on the heels of Uttar Pradesh enacting the UP Prohibition of Unlawful Conversion of Religion Ordinance 2020 to curb the religious conversions for the sake of marriage.

A Muslim youth has already been arrested in UP under the new law, as reported by National Herald. It is a different matter that the father of the accused as well as villagers have alleged that the UP Police for having orchestrated the whole affair just to get credit for effecting the first arrest under the new law.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has also gone on record to say that the state will enact laws to curb "forced religious conversions". “There is no discrimination but if someone tries to do anything disgusting with our daughters, then I'll break you. If someone plots religious conversion or does anything like 'love jihad', you will be destroyed," Chouhan was quoted as saying.
