Kanhaiya to file nomination on April 9; Javed Akhtar, Shabana Azmi, Hardik Patel and Prakash Raj may attend

In a star-studded political show, former president of the Jawaharlal Nehru University Students’ Union (JNUSU) and CPI candidate Kanhaiya Kumar is set to file his nomination on Tuesday.

As per sources, Kanhaiya who is contesting his first election from the Begusarai Lok Sabha constituency, will be joined by celebrities, Bollywood stars and political activists such as Javed Akhtar, Shabana Azmi, Swara Bhaskar and Prakash Raj, claimed a close associate of Kanhaiya.

“We expect them (Shabana Azmi and Javed Akhtar) to come for the April 9 show,” said Prince Kumar, younger brother of Kanhaiya.

“Prakash Raj, a multilingual film actor and a known Modi critic is expected to come,” said Prince, adding Swara Bhaskar, is also expected to attend Kanhaiya’s nomination.

Among others, Gurmehar Kaur, a student activist and Shehla Rashid, a politician and PhD student at Jawaharlal Nehru University, Delhi are also expected to attend Kanhaiya’s nomination.

“Among those certain to be there on the day of nomination are young leaders Hardik Patel and Jignesh Mevani,” said zealous Prince.

While Hardik led the Patidar reservation agitation before joining the Congress, Jignesh, a social activist and lawyer, is a legislator from the Vadgam constituency in Gujarat.
