IIMC suspends 12 students for protesting against fee-hike, asks students to deposit increased fee
India’s premier journalism institute, IIMC asked students to deposit the same hiked-fee which they were protesting against within 10 days after suspending 12 students on Monday
A day after India’s premier journalism institute – Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC) celebrated alumni meet in a glittering ceremony, its administration has suspended 12 students on Monday for organizing talks about affordable education.
And, apparently in order to “teach student community a lesson” the IIMC administration has issued a circular on the same say with hiked-fee wherein students have been advised to deposit increased fee within 10 days.
The IIMC notice says that there have been “concerted acts of indiscipline” on the part of students within the IIMC campus in spite of repeated counseling by authorities in the administration and even the faculty members.
It is notable here that after the protest erupted in JNU campus in December-2019 against the hiked-fee, some students at IIMC also had staged a strike in the campus against the high tuition fee and “unruly” hostel and mess charges.
Those who have been suspended had participated in the protest against “unaffordable fee structure”.
