The Indian Air Force on Monday shot down a Pakistani drone that had ventured into the Indian territory along the Rajasthan border in the Bikaner sector area, as per news reports.
According to news agency ANI, the Pakistani drone was detected around 11:30 AM by India’s air defence radars at the border, after which it was shot down by IAF’s Sukhoi-30 MKI fighter jet.
This is the second instance over the last one week when a drone from Pakistan has been detected in the Indian airspace. On Feb 26, a drone from Pakistan had intruded into the India territory from the Kutch border in Gujarat, before being shot down.
On Feb 27, Pakistani fighter jets had entered into the Indian airspace in a bid to target Indian military installations, before being pushed back by the IAF.
In the ensuing dogfight, IAF’s wing commander Abhinandan Varthaman was captured by Pakistan after his plane was shot down. He was handed back to India by Pakistani authorities on Friday evening.
