Rains claim 42 lives in 4 states; normal life hit in Bihar

Over 40 people died in rain-related incidents, majority of them in Uttar Pradesh, while incessant rainfall in Bihar left the streets of state capital Patna and other areas waterlogged and normal life affected.

As many as 35 people lost their lives in UP since Friday. Also, three deaths each were reported from Rajasthan and Madhya Preadesh, while one person died in J&K.

In Bihar, heavy rains in several parts of the state since Friday have thrown normal life out of gear as it affected rail traffic, healthcare facilities and schools. There is forecast of more rains on Sunday. Schools have been ordered shut in some districts of Bihar.
