A 19-year-old college student from a village near Rewari in Haryana, who was felicitated by President Ram Nath Kovind for topping the CBSE board exam, has alleged that she was kidnapped and gang-raped by a group of men on Wednesday. The incident occurred when she was returning from her coaching class in Kanina in Mahendragarh district of Haryana.

The survivor said that three men kidnapped her and taken her to a secluded farm in Jhajjar district in their car. There she was offered a drug-laced drink, after which she was gang-raped. She also said that there were other men who were already present at the field and they also raped her. She said that she was raped by around 12 people. She told the police that all the accused belonged to the same village near Rewari where she lived. She was found unconscious at a bus stop.

“Modi ji says ‘beti padhao, beti bachao’, but how? I want justice for my daughter. Police have taken no action yet,” the girl’s mother

The girl’s parents have alleged that the police refused to file an FIR against the men accused. The girl said that she was threatened by the men against pursuing the matter.

"My daughter was rewarded by Modi ji after she topped the CBSE board exams. Modi ji says 'beti padhao, beti bachao', but how? I want justice for my daughter. Police have taken no action yet," said the girl's mother.

The police say they have filed a “zero FIR” based on the girl’s complaint. A zero FIR is filed in a police station which is not in charge of the area where the crime took place and can be transferred to the relevant police station.

The police said the zero FIR was converted into a regular FIR on Friday, September 14 after it was successfully transferred to the police station under whose area of watch the crime took place.

The survivor was preparing for the railways exam.
