Hours after arriving from Mumbai, Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar today began his official work after seeking divine blessings in two temples.

Parrikar had returned from the US on Thursday evening after his three-month long treatment for his pancreatic ailment.

Chief Minister’s Office said that Parrikar went to seek blessings at Devkikrishna Temple at Khandola village in North Goa, on Friday morning. The temple has a deity of the Parrikar family. The chief minister later drove to Panaji where he took blessings at Mahalaxmi Temple in the city.

CMO said that Parrikar later went to his office in the Secretariat where he chaired the meeting of senior bureacrats and police officers on the law and order front.

The chief minister has been away from Goa since March 7, 2018, when he was flown to USA for treatment. Since then, the state administration was guided by three member Cabinet Advisory Committee comprising of Sudin Dhavalikar (MGP), Francis D’Souza (BJP) and Vijai Sardesai (Goa Forward Party)

Parrikar had returned on Thursday in Goa via Mumbai from USA. He had landed in Mumbai in the afternoon but missed the connecting flight to Goa due to the delayed landing of the scheduled international flight.

The chief minister later arrived on a commercial flight to the State airport. Parrikar refused to talk to the mediapersons who were waiting for his comments.

While he had lined up a cabinet meeting on Friday, it was cancelled at the last minute. However, several ministers met Parrikar at his official chamber.

“It was a courtesy visit. There was no discussion on any of the topic,” said an officer from CMO.

Parrikar is expected to chair cabinet meeting either end of this week or early next week. The cabinet has not met for last three months while several resolutions were passed through circulation.
