Slamming Modi government for seriously “breaching every rule of the rule book,” Congress said ED raids on the Robert Vadra, shows malicious intentions of the Modi government.

What is the justification of conducting such raids when there is no FIR against Vadra, asked, head of the Congress media cell, Randeep Surjewala at a presser on Friday.

“ED illegally broke open the doors and locks and entered the office. Vadra’s lawyer pointed out that Vadra has adhered to every notice/summon by every agency for several years and supplied every document asked for but they did not listen,” added Surjewala.

Calling PM Modi a Belagam Badshah (uncontrolled emperor), Surjewala said the spectre of defeat in five states has unnerved PM Modi to again use old trick- unleash revenge against Vadra to divert the narrative.

“In last 54 months, Modi govt has let loose a criminal conspiracy to vilify, denigrate and malign Vadra to settle personal and political scores,” he emphasised. Surjewala asked Modi to behave like a PM, saying: “Modi ji mafia don ki bhumika chhoriye” (Modi ji, do not behave like a mafia don).

Surjewala said the Modi government helped fraudsters like Vijay Mallya, Nirav Modi and Mehul Chowksi to flee the country but the people who are following the rule and working with in the ambit of laws, are being targeted.

Congress party fought against Britishers with the power of truth and will continue to do so in this case also, said Surjewala.

“We will not be cowed down by the autocratic behaviors of the Modi government,” said Surjewala, adding ED raids on the premises belonging to the Vadra and his relatives has been done on the basis of false cases and manufactured lies.

Earlier in the day, the ED conducted raids at the premises of some close associates of Robert Vadra.

His lawyer Suman Jyoti Khaitan claimed that the ED officials raided “close associates” and business partners of Vadra in Delhi without even showing any search warrant.

They locked up the premises from inside and did not allow any access to those inside, even to the lawyers, he alleged.

“Is this rule of law? The evidence has been fabricated,” Suman Jyoti Khaitan alleged while speaking to reporters.

Vadra, is being investigated by the ED in connection with a land deal in Bikaner in Rajasthan.
