Issuing an alert on the likely presence of two suspected Jaish-e-Mohammad terrorists in the national capital, the Delhi police also released a photograph of them leaning on a milestone which reads 'Delhi 360 km, Ferozepur 9 km' in dark kurtas and religious headgear. Ferozepur is located on the India-Pakistan border in Punjab.

Anybody spotting them is requested to call the Paharganj police station on 011-23520787 or 011-2352474.

This alert comes two days after a grenade attack in Amritsar killed three people and injured 20 others. The Punjab Police was placed on alert last week after its counter-intelligence wing suggested that six to seven Jaish-e-Mohammad terrorists "could be moving towards Delhi" from the state.

According to a report on Hindustan Times, deputy commissioner of police (special cell) Pramod Kushwah said they received inputs that two Jaish-e-Mohammed suspects were approaching Delhi.

“All police stations have been alerted to step up patrolling in their respective areas and we are looking for the suspects,” he said.

Police are also not dismissing a warning that was recently issued on a WhatsApp group allegedly being run by a member of the student’s wing of Jaish-e-Mohammed, in which they talked of avenging Maulana Masood Azhar’s nephew Usman Haidar encounter in Kashmir’s Tral on October 30, said the report.

A letter, issued by the office of the Punjab Inspector General of Police (Counter Intelligence) to law-enforcement agencies across the state on Thursday, sought the installation of checkpoints at all important routes, strict vehicle inspections and the adoption of stringent counter-terror measures. "There is a need to review and strengthen the second line of defence along the India-Pakistan border, and coordinate closely with the Border Security Force and other defence establishments in your areas," the document added.
