Cong leader Renuka Chaudhary slams BJP MLA who proposed name change for Hyderabad
Slamming the BJP MLA over his comment to change Hyderabad’s name, Senior Congress leader Renuka Chaudhary, who belongs to Hyderabad, said that the MLA should go and change his name instead
Telangana BJP MLA Raja Singh on Friday, November 9, said that if BJP will be voted to power, it will change the name of Hyderabad to Bhagyanagar.
Slamming the BJP MLA over his comment to change Hyderabad’s name, Senior Congress leader Renuka Chaudhary, who belongs to Hyderabad, said that MLA should go and change his name instead.
“We are proud Hyderabadis, Who is Raja Singh? He should go and change his name instead, no one will object.”
Earlier on Friday, BJP MLA Raja Singh said, “Our aim is, when our Bharatiya Janata Party government comes to power in Telangana, our first (priority) is development, second is these names should be changed. They should be named after great people, those who worked for our nation, righteousness and Telangana.”
BJP MLA, who was a member of the recently-dissolved legislative assembly, said the Qutb Shahis, who ruled the region during the 16th century, had changed the name of the city, Bhagyanagar, to Hyderabad.
They had also changed the names of other places, he said, adding Secunderabad and Karimnagar were among them
