Chowkidaar gave Anil Ambani ₹30,000 cr but ₹17 to farmer: Rahul’s fresh salvo at Modi from Jan Akanksha rally
Addressing Jan Akanksha rally, first Congress rally at Gandhi Maidan, Patna in nearly three decades, the Congress president said PM Modi has given ₹30,000 crore to Anil Ambani, but only ₹17 to farmers
Congress President Rahul Gandhi kicked off his campaign for Lok Sabha polls in Bihar from the historic Gandhi Maidan in Patna on Sunday.
Addressing Jan Akanksha rally, the first Congress rally at Gandhi Maidan, Patna in nearly three decades; the Congress president said, PM Modi has given ₹30,000 crore to Anil Ambani, but only ₹17 to farmers.
Criticising Pradhanmantri Kisan Samman Yojana (PKSY) according to which direct income support at the rate of ₹6,000 would be provided to the farmers, Rahul Gandhi promised loan waiver and minimum income to every poor, if Congress is voted to power in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
Launching a blistering attack on PM Modi and Nitish Kumar led NDA government in Bihar, the Congress president described Bihar as “an epicentre of unemployment.”
He said that in BJP-ruled states of Gujarat, Maharashtra, people of Bihar are beaten and chased away. Bihar has the potential of being the centre of education once again.
“Congress government will grant Central university status to the Patna university, if my party is voted to power,” he added.
“What have you (Modi) done for Patna University? What have you done for the employment of the youths of Bihar?” asked Rahul in the rally, adding that Nalanda University and Patna University used to be popular and well reputed all over the world for the standard and quality of education, but now, Bihar is no more a centre of education.
Education, employment and agricultural opportunities were stolen away from Bihar. Farmers pay insurance money and they don't receive insurance when their crops are destroyed. Insurance companies make the profit, he said.
Reiterating his old charges against Modi, with reference to the Rafale deal, the Congress president said everyone knows chowkidar chor hai.
“The amount of money that has been given to one Anil Ambani is enough to fund three MGNREGA,” he stated.
Praising Tejashwi Yadav of the RJD as a young and promising leader he said, “ he is a young leader, he works and doesn’t tell lies.” He emphatically added that together all the opposition parties with mutual respect and consent form the coalition government.
Attended by alliance partners such as RJD’s Tejashwi Yadav, RLSP’s Upendra Kushwaha and HAM’s Jitan Ram Manjhi, the Congres rally is seen as a show of strength ahead of the Lok Sabha polls 2019.
Welcoming Rahul Gandhi in Bihar, RJD leader Tejaswhi Yadav backed Rahul Gandhi for the post of the PM.
“You have all the qualifications to be the next PM, but onus also lies in you and the Congress party to take along all the other parties,” said Yadav.
“We had wished that Gandhi was present in the previous Opposition’s rally, but he was pre-occupied with his foreign tour. We are happy today that Rahul Gandhi today show the true face of Modi to the youth of Bihar,” added Tejashvi.
Newly elected chief ministers of the Congress ruled states - Ashok Gehlot, Kamalnath and Bhupesh Baghel were also present at the rally. You can watch the Congress president’s speech here:
