Celebrity Indian chef Cardoz passes away due to Coronavirus; around 200 people came in contact with him

About 200 people who came in contact with Celebrity Chef Floyd Cardoz will be tested for Covid 19. Cardoz who was admitted to a New York hospital on March 18 passed away due to coronavirus infection.

Cardoz had even posted on social media that he was taking precaution and getting himself admitted to the hospital. He had returned to New York on March 8.

Cardoz has two restaurants in Mumbai and was a very popular celebrity chef in the US. He owns the ‘Bombay Canteen’ and ‘O Pedro’ is often visited by Bollywood celebrities.

As a precautionary measure  the company had informed the health department in Mumbai about Cardoz testing positive for Corona. The Hunger Inc which runs the restaurants had also mentioned that they were reaching out to people who had interacted with Cardoz during his visit to India. The company also had mentioned that those people would be asked to get tests done and remain in self quarantine.


Some of the celebrities like Rishi Kapoor took to social media to pay tribute to the Chef. Kapoor wrote,`` RIP. Floyd Cardoz. Will cherish the meal you made for us at your restaurant 'Paowala' at Spring Street, NY (New York). And several times at the 'Bombay Canteen' (Phoenix Mills) and 'O'Pedro' (BKC), all in Mumbai."

Rahul Bose  wrote: "Shocked to hear the passing away of Floyd Cardoz. Apart from enjoying sterling meals at his various restaurants in New York and Bombay, he was a wonderful man - always warm, gracious and funny. Any pandemic always gets more ominous when you know those who have succumbed. RIP, Floyd."

Cardoz had recently shot for Aziz Ansari's Show ‘Ugly Delicious Season 2’ and had travelled to Lucknow too.
