Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Shyam Rajak has said that 17 legislators from Nitish Kumar's JDU were in touch with them and all set to join RJD.

According to a report in India Today, "17 JDU legislators are in touch with RJD through me. They are desperate to join RJD at the earliest but we have stopped them as they will lose their membership due to anti-defection law," said Shyam Rajak.

Rajak has claimed that JDU legislators were unhappy about the way BJP was asserting itself on the newly elected Nitish government.

"If 25 to 26 legislators from JDU join our party, their membership will not get terminated as anti-defection law will not come into play. Soon this is going to happen," claimed Rajak.

However, Janata Dal United said that claim made by Rajak was nothing more than an attempt to mislead people. JDU spokesperson Rajiv Ranjan said JDU legislators were united and RJD should keep their flocks together.

"There is no resentment in JDU. Our party is upset over what happened in Arunachal but this does not mean that our legislators will get misguided. RJD in turn should keep its house together as many of the legislators are unhappy with Tejashwi Yadav's style of functioning," said Ranjan.
