Asiad 2018: Shooter Saurabh wins gold, India thrash Sri Lanka in women’s Kabaddi 

Indian shooters Saurabh Chaudhary and Abhishek Verma bagged gold and bronze medals respectively in the Men’s 10 metre Air Pistol final in the ongoing 2018 Asian Games

Debutant teenager Saurabh Chaudhary clinched India's first shooting gold of the 18th Asian Games, fetching the top honours in the men's 10m air pistol event on Tuesday.

The 16-year-old Chaudhary, who topped the qualifying round, shot a Games record score of 240.7 to pip Japan's Tomoyuki Matsuda (239.7) in an exciting final to add a gold to India's shooting tally of two silver and a bronze this Asiad.

Hobby shooter Abhishek Verma, also making his Asian Games debut at 29, settled for the bronze medal in the same event with a score of 219.3.

In second position for most of the final, Chaudhary grabbed the lead after Matsuda fired 8.9 in his penultimate shot. The Indian went ahead with a 10.2 off his second-last shot and held the nerve to stay ahead.

Asiad 2018: India thrash Sri Lanka in women's Kabaddi

Continuing their winning run, the Indian women's Kabaddi team outclassed Sri Lanka 38-12 in the ongoing 2018 Asian Games on Tuesday.

The Indian eves completely dominated their neighbours and registered the third successive win to top the Group A charts.

India, who had earlier defeated Japan and Thailand in their previous games, will now take on Indonesia in their last group tie here later on Tuesday.


Virdhawal Khade in Men's 50m Freestyle swimming finals

Indian swimmer Virdhawal Khade qualified for the final of the Men's 50 metre Freestyle swimming competition in the ongoing 2018 Asian Games on Tuesday.

Khade topped the Heat-5 charts after taking a time of 22.43 seconds.

Anshul Kothari, another Indian who won the Heat-1, however, finished 28th overall and could not proceed.

The finals will be held later on Tuesday.
