AIADMK’s illegal banner falls on woman, gets run over by tanker; Madras HC says “lost faith in government”
A 23-year old woman was crushed to death near Kamakshi Hospital, Pallikarnai, after AIADMK’s illegal hoarding on a divider fell on her, causing her to lose balance and get run over by a tanker
On Thursday afternoon, a 23-year old woman was crushed to death near Kamakshi Hospital, Pallikarnai, after an illegal hoarding on a divider fell on her, causing her to lose balance and get run over by a tanker. The woman was identified as Subhasri, a resident of Chrompet. This is the second time such an incident has been caused by an AIADMK banner.
DMK Chief MK Stalin has taken to twitter since yesterday, defending the victim’s rights and questioning the existence of banners despite repeated orders by the Madras High Court regarding the same.
His tweet reads, “The negligence of the state, the irresponsibility of the authorities, the manipulation of the police, the unauthorized billboard has taken over the life of Subhadri. My condolences to him! How many more lives will be sacrificed to the anarchy of power?”
These illegal banners were on either side of the road and on the divider, and through these a former AIADMK councillor had announced his son’s wedding. The water tanker driver Manoj has also been arrested under IPC Sections 279, 336, 304 A by St Thomas Mount Traffic Investigation police.
The Madras High Court, after a hearing in the same matter severely criticised the Tamil Nadu government and political culture itself, saying that despite repeated warnings the government has not implemented a small ban on illegal flex boards. The incident is surely a result of a “bureaucratic apathy” as per the Madras High Court. “There is zero respect for lives in this country. It is a bureaucratic apathy. Sorry, we have lost faith in the government,” Justice Seshasayee was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.
At this apathetic incident, Twitterati to reacted sharply and as a result hashtags #WhoKilledShubhashree #AdmkKilledSubhasri started trending on Twitter. Here are a few tweets:
