Ahead of Assembly results, Shivraj govt to borrow ₹800 crore, Congress asks, “What for?”

Prior to the results of the assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh, the current Shivraj government is going to borrow ₹800 crore. The Congress has raised the questions on why the government was borrowing before the polls just before the new mandate is about to come.

Congress has asked why Shivraj government could not wait for 6 to 7 days to take loan? There is already a loan of 1.75 lakh crore on the state government. Official sources of the state government said that in order to get the incomplete work done, the loan is being borrowed from the market of ₹800 crore. This loan will be for the next 10 years.

BJP spokesperson Rahul Kothari said that this loan is being taken keeping in mind the needs of the state. The goal of the present government is to work for every section of the society and it is an ongoing process.

Congress spokesperson Durgesh Sharma said, "This government is hell bent on bringing the state under more debt. The fresh mandate is about to come, therefore there is no justification for taking such a loan. This government days are limited and therefore it is taking a loan. The government will go away with debt, but the burden will fall on the people of the state. "

Polling was conducted in the state on November 28 and counting will take place on December 11. The government is going to organise a cabinet meeting on Wednesday, December 5, and on the other hand it is taking a loan of ₹800 crore. The Congress has questioned the functioning of the government and has also complained to the Election Commission, as Code of Conduct is applicable at this time.
