Right-wing NGO wants ‘Dabangg 3’ censor certificate cancelled, writes to CBFC
Claiming that a dance sequence of the film ‘insults Hindu Dharma’, the self proclaimed Hindu NGO Hindu Janajagruti Samiti has demanded that censor certificate of Dabangg 3 be cancelled
A Bengaluru-based right-wing NGO, Hindu Janajagruti Samiti, has demanded that the films censor certificate for upcoming Salman Khan starrer Dabangg 3 should be cancelled.
Controversy arose after a section of social media objected to scenes in the film's title song that shows saffron-clad sadhus dancing with guitars.
In a letter submitted to Central Board of Film Certification's (CBFC) Bengaluru office, the NGO wrote: "Request to cancel the Censor certificate to the forthcoming movie Dabang 3, which insults Hindu Dharma".
Hindu Janajagruti Samiti is a Hindu organisation operating globally established on 13 October 2002 by seekers of ‘Sanatan Sanstha’. The organisation claims that it "stands as a common platform for all Hindus to unite breaking all the barriers" and its website carries the slogan "For establishment of the Hindu Nation"
Salman Khan and the makers of the film are yet to react to the same.
Directed by Prabhu Deva, "Dabangg 3" also stars Sonakshi Sinha, Arbaaz Khan and Saiee Manjrekar in key roles. The film is slated to hit theatres on December 20.
