In India, while we are going gaga over the box office collection of the mega hit Baahubali 2, Aamir Khan’s Dangal is grabbing attention in China. Released in China just two weeks ago on May 5, Dangal is turning out to be a mega hit with its gross collection nearing ₹500 crore. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared the latest collection of the film in China on Twitter.

Inspired by the real life story of wrestler Mahavir Phogat and how he struggled against all odds to train his daughters as successful professional wrestlers, the movie has struck a chord with the Chinese audience. The tremendous response the film has received in China was quite unexpected. It is the first Indian movie whose collection from a single overseas market has gone far beyond the domestic box office collection.

“I couldn't believe Apoorva wanted me to play the part, he told me he has the trust that I will perform well, but wanted me to convince him that I look that part,” Siddhanth was quoted as saying.

The movie will chronicle Dawood from the age of 17 to 40. Siddhanth had to make sure his portrayal of the don was different as stars like Rishi Kapoor and Akshay Kumar have already played Dawood on the big screen in D Day and Once Upon a Time in Mumbai Dobaara! respectively.

“We went through very intense workshops, read books, spoke to several people in the know. It was quite an experience preparing for the role,” the actor said.

The film will go on floor in November this year.
