Varun Dhawan’s selfie stunt leads to challan, apologises

The Mumbai Police on Thursday issued a challan to Varun Dhawan for taking a selfie with a fan from his car and warned him to avoid such antics in future. The actor has apologised.

The official Twitter handle of Mumbai Police shared snapshots of a newspaper article featuring Varun pulling off the selfie stunt on the road. The actor is seen partly out of his car's window and taking a selfie with a female fan who is seen travelling in an auto rickshaw.

Varun apologised for his behaviour.

Padmavati Row: SC to hear plea against release of  the film abroad

The Supreme Court on Thursday said it will hear on November 28 a fresh plea seeking to block the release of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's directorial Padmavati outside India.

A bench of Chief Justice Dipak Misra, Justice A.M. Khanwilkar and Justice D.Y. Chandrachud agreed to hear the plea after the petitioner told the court that "grave damage would be done to social harmony if the movie was allowed to be released abroad".

Advocate M.L. Sharma mentioned the matter before the bench for urgent hearing. The court posted it for Tuesday.

The lawyer sought criminal prosecution of the makers of the film saying they misrepresented facts that the songs and promos were cleared by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).

Earlier, the court had dismissed Sharma's plea saying it was "premature" as the CBFC was yet to decide and any interference at that stage would amount to "pre-judging the matter".

The apex court had said that the CBFC was a statutory body and court cannot give it directions on matters of film certification.

The British Board Of Film Classification (BBFC) has cleared Padmavati for release on December 1 but a source close to the film's makers said it won't release anywhere on that date.

Manushi Chhillar has made us proud: Shatrughan Sinha

Actor-politician Shatrughan Sinha has congratulated Haryana girl Manushi Chhillar, who has won the Miss World 2017 title.

Shatrughan on Thursday tweeted: "Will also be a highly appreciated gesture on behalf of the nation as we congratulate our young, medico family girl and world beauty queen Manushi Chhillar. Manushi... You have made us all proud! Jai Hind!"

She is the sixth Indian to win the title and the first since Priyanka Chopra won the crown in 2000.

Earlier this month, Chhillar won the title at a glittering event in Sanya, China, ending a 16 year drought for India at the international pageant.

The crown was placed on Chhillar's head by Miss World 2016 winner Puerto Rico's Stephanie Del Valle. She competed against 108 contestants from various countries at the pageant.

Miss Mexico Andrea Meza was announced the first runner up, while Miss England Stephanie Hill was declared the second runner up at the event held at Sanya City Area.

Manushi Chhillar, born to doctor parents from Haryana, studied at St. Thomas School in Delhi and Bhagat Phool Singh Government Medical College for Women in Sonepat.
