It was amazing working with Akshaye Khanna, says actor Abhilash Chaudhary
Dabangg 3 actor Abhilash Chaudhary plays negative role of a terrorist in ZEE5's 'Stage of Siege: Temple Attack'
Tell us a bit about your background. Did you always want to be an actor?
I was an engineer by profession and yes always wanted to be an actor. I loved to see Sunny Deol on screen and copied him many times in college, school and home. He has always been one of my favourites.
Tell us about your role in 'Stage of Siege: Temple Attack' and how did you prepare for it?
I am playing negative parallel lead in the film. It was a challenging role because when you play a terrorist who killed or is trying to kill innocent people, there is already a challenge before you to portray in such a way that it should create an impact on audiences. Then it will be an actual reward. The character's name is Iqbal who is very dear and main hand to Abhimanyu who is playing main negative lead and is the mastermind of this plan. Iqbal looks silent and attentive in looks but he is very clear about what to do while leading his team with clear mindset. I have 3 different looks in the film. "
What were the challenges you faced while shooting?
"I can say that it was totally a tough character because for playing a terrorist you need to bring in that villainous streak. It was a new experience playing such a character and we also shot in Manali in snow and rain. So, working in such conditions was also a great challenge. But Ken sir was so good in his job. He gave us a very clear vision about the scenes. We had some workshops also before the shoot and helped us to act on the location. It was very useful because while shooting amid rain and snow it is difficult to go for retakes. So all those workshops and the director's deft handling made us very clear about the scenes and what was expected of us as actors.
How was your working experience with Akshaye Khanna and others?
"It was Amazing working with Akshaye sir. He is such a talented actor of all time. He is a very natural actor. I know Gautam Rode since long and I idolised him because he is one of the most humble and nice human being I have ever seen and a very good actor too. Vivek Dahiya is like a brother to me. This is the first time we have worked together. He is an awesome person."
Any references or special preparations for the role in 'Stage of Siege: Temple Attack'?
Yes, we did many workshops in terms of dialogues rehearsals, scene rehearsals. And the most interesting part was the training. We were trained by professional army officials, like how to hold guns, how to run with guns, how to shoot, how a terrorist would talk or behave etc. Our trainer Mr Sen was an ex NSG officer. He helped me to get into the proper things I also worked very hard to get into the character.
You have worked in films, TV and now web series. Which means do you like more and why?
Actually, I did not restrict myself to any medium and I never refuse any work, doesn't matter whatever the medium is if it's a strong role. Obviously I preferred working in films. But I always wanted quality work. That is the most important for me. I feel I liked and enjoyed every bit of all my projects.
How is life in pandemic? What has been your realisation in lockdown?
Yes, it was a tough time for everyone. As life was in total restriction one couldn't move, couldn't work. The most important realisation during that time was regarding the necessity to keep yourself motivated and positive. I am a very positive person and tried to create positivity all around. Did workout at home, read books and worked on my craft to keep myself busy during the lockdown.
Besides 'Stage of Siege’, any other upcoming project?
Yes, Currently I am doing a multi language web series for a well known OTT plate form. It is based on a true story and I am playing negative lead in that. Talks are on for a feature film also. Things are positive now. Finger crossed!
