Entertainment: Twitter slams Priyanka over her remark on Sikkim
Netizens have slammed Priyanka for calling Sikkim “an insurgency-troubled land”, they have also slammed her for being “politically illiterate”
Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra seems to have landed herself in a trouble after speaking about Sikkim in an interview to ET Canada at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) while discussing her production Pahuna: The Little Visitors, which premiered at the gala.
She seems to have hurt the sentiments of the people of Sikkim by calling the state an insurgency-troubled land. Netizens have slammed her for ignorance and for being “politically illiterate”. The remark was immediately slammed.
Former Indian national football team Captain and Politician Bhaichung Bhutia condoned this particular statement, highlighting how the people of Sikkim are deeply hurt by the ignorance.
Pahuna, directed by first timer Paakhi A Tyrewala, was launched as an association between Priyanka and her mother Madhu Chopra’s banner Purple Pebble Pictures and Ministry of Tourism Sikkim. The film is about two kids and the refugee crisis .

“The team is shooting at amazing pace, making it probably the fastest shot film in Ranjith's career. Nearly 70 per cent of the film has already been completed. The makers are really impressed with the way the film has shaped up,” a source said.
Set against the backdrop of Mumbai, the film features Rajinikanth in the role of a slum lord-turned-gangster.
The film also stars Huma Qureshi, Anjali Patil, Samuthirakani and Pankaj Tripathi.
NFAI acquires a documentary on Mahatma Gandhi
To mark the 148th anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the National Film Archive of India has acquired the original negative footage comprising a six-hour documentary on Bapu.
The documentary has been shot by the late Vithalbhai Jhaveri, who was a photographer, filmmaker and a close associate of Gandhiji. The original negatives are of the documentary ‘Mahatma’ made by Jhaveri who was conferred the Padma Bhushan in 1969. The filmmaker died in 1985.
This footage on Gandhi is the highlight of 162 films acquired from the Famous Cine Laboratory in Mumbai, by the NFAI recently, said Prakash Magdum, Director, NFAI.
One of the biggest acquisitions in recent times, the new collection includes 125 films which are original or duplicate negatives of the film. While 44 films are black-and-white, the entire collection includes 15 unreleased films.
