The Film Certification Appellate Tribunal (FCAT) has cleared Nawazuddin Siddiqui-starrer Babumoshai Bandookbaaz with “eight minor, voluntary cuts”. The news comes days after the appointment of adman- lyricist Prasoon Joshi as the new chairman of the CBFC.

The director of the film, Kushan Nandy made the announcement on Twitter.

The then Pahlaj Nihalani-led Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) had initially ordered 48 cuts in the movie, after giving an ‘A’ certificate.

Nandy also thanked Indian Film and Television Directors Association (IFTDA), including directors such as Vikramaditya Motwane, Satish Kaushik and Abhishek Chaubey, and the media for their support.

Babumoshai had run into trouble with the CBFC, which has raised objections to the cuss words and some scenes in the film. Nawazuddin defended the movie saying the abuses in the film were justified as they make the characters look authentic.

Also featuring actors Bidita Bag and Shradha Das, the movie will hit the screens on August 25.

Producer Ekta Kapoor has shared the first teaser of Bose Dead/Alive which is a web series on freedom fighter Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose.

In the teaser, Rajkummar Rao is seen in a suit and a dark hat walking slowly towards a dark corridor. Filmmaker Hansal Mehta has said the upcoming web series on freedom fighter Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose titled Bose-Dead/Alive is not a boring biography.

“It is a fast-paced, gripping tale on a man whose trajectory is one of the most fascinating stories ever. The web series is structured like a thriller, so while one will learn about his life, it will also leave you on the edge of the seat,” Mehta, who is the creator of the show, said in a statement.

“Our intention is to portray Bose as a contemporary hero, a rebel who worked in different ways, thereby making him relevant and a part of today’s youth,” he said.

Producer Ekta Kapoor said after a lot of research, they realised that it was a story that needed to be told.

The makers are planning to unveil its trailer on August 18.
